double meaning poetry

After reading the required pieces of poetry for this week, and the module on poetry, answer the following questions:

1) Double meaning is an important literary tool in poetry. Provide examples of how the poets we read for class wrote one thing but meant something deeper.

2) After reading, “Caged Bird,” by Maya Angelou, explain the overall meaning of the poem and how she captured the theme of the poem using specific language and description.

3) What does the dust represent in “Common Dust?” Describe what the poet is trying to convey to the reader in this poem.

4) Explain how description and the setting of the poem in, “The Road not Taken,” is used to express a deeper meaning.
