NUESTROS COMPLEJOS CULTURALES
Reviewing Identity in the Literature and Art of Aztlán
The emphasis of this unit is on CREATION and the empowering role it plays in identity formation and expression. The purpose of this assignment is to provide students an opportunity to gain an appreciation of the role of critically conscious cultural productions from the era of the Chicano Movement into the present. Students will also be provided the opportunity to connect to their own creativity as they continue to explore Chicano-Xicanx identities and the relevance to their own lived experiences.

Part OME (2)
Evaluate the impact the works in Unit #2 have had on your holistic view of your own identity development in this class thus far, considering your mind, body, spirit, and emotions. Create your own critically conscious cultural production. Include a discussion of your cultural production, highlighting the similarities and differences from the other works of art presented in Unit #2.
It is important to note that the skill of creating is at the top of Bloom’s Taxonomy. Creativity is a sophisticated skill that develops as a result of remembering, understanding, applying, analyzing, and evaluating. Be sure to review the significance of critical consciousness for this assignment, recognizing it in the authors/artists but also implementing it yourself. I encourage not only deep analysis but also DEEP REFLECTION in order to maximize the authenticity of your cultural production. Have fun 😊
