School Health and STDS

Design a PowerPoint presentation for high school aged students discussing normative aging changes, sexuality, STDs, and prevention.

Discuss normal body changes that occur through puberty into young adulthood

Discuss specific STDs, causes, symptoms, complications, and treatment:

**You should include a slide or two for each of the following:  Gonorrhea, Chlamydia, Herpes, HIV, Syphlis,
 HPV

The assignment should be submitted in PowerPoint format, with at least 10 content slides (in addition to a title slide and reference slide) and include at least two scholarly sources other than provided materials.

Here are some power point® (PPT) tips:

Do not write a paper in the PPT – clean, organized and easy to read bullets/graphs/diagrams should be used to get the message across-not paragraphs!
Power Points are to have short bullet thoughts, NEVER full sentences or paragraphs.
Citations for non-quotes are on EACH slide posted in the lower right corner within parentheses- as (author, year) – the exception is if you use a quote– than use the citation within the sentence/message – but using more than 2 quotes and full sentences is to be avoided if at all possible for class PPTs.  Never use more than two direct quotes in an assignment, as this will increase your Turn it In Score.
I DO NOT want you to complete “speaker notes” in your power points!
Enticing background color is welcomed as well as minimal transitions and pictures to add to the message.  (You do not need to cite sources of pictures or graphics in your power point unless it is copyrighted material).
Include Title slide with title, your name, the date, and school listed-note that titles of slides are to be in ALL CAPITAL letters.
Objectives slide follows the title slide and tells the reader what you will cover (Just like the introductory paragraph in a paper).
Every slide has a heading of no more than 3-4 words and words are to be in ALL CAPITAL letters for titles of slides only.
No more than 7-8 bullets or points on a slide
Citations that are not for quotes, are to be placed in parentheses at the bottom right corner of the slide –example:  (Fisher, Jones, & Smith, 2017).  If the citation is for a quote, it is to be in the text of the sentence with the quotation- example:

“Nursing is growing due to increased practice” (Fisher, 2017, p. 64).

Reference slide compiling ALL references as the last slide in APA format; bulleted or “hanging”
Be sure that the font is large enough to read or you may need to make it larger- sometimes 15-20 are good for references.
Remember that acronyms such as RN, ICU, MD, CDC, etc., are not permitted in titles, headings, or used as the first word in a sentence unless spelled out.  This applies to both papers and power points.
Power points are to have colorful graphics: pictures, graphs, or clip art used- at least 3 or more in each power point but not on every slide-remember that copyrighted pictures or graphics must be cited and referenced.
NEVER use all capital letters in any areas of the power point, other than the slide titles.
