The Disappearance of Amelia Earhart
The disappearance of Amelia Earhart is a mystery that remains unsolved. “Amelia Earhart is the first Female pilot to fly across the Atlantic ocean, mysteriously disappeared while flying over the Pacific Ocean in 1937”. On July 2nd Amelia Earhart, fondly known as “Lady Linda”, was an American pilot who mysteriously disappeared in 1937 while trying to circumnavigate the globe from the equator, Earhart was the 16th woman to be issued a pilot’s license. She had several notable flights, including becoming the first woman to fly across the Atlantic ocean in 1928, as well as the first person to fly over both the Atlantic and Pacific.
Many have tried to solve this mystery. One of the attempts to explain this mystery began with an organization called the international group for historic aircraft recovery (TIGHAR) launched its first expedition to Nikumaroro, a remote Pacific of kiribati. TIGHAR and its director, Howland Island, continued South along and made an emergency landing on Nikumaroro (they called Gardner Island). According to this theory, they lived for a period of time as castaways on the tiny, uninhabited Island, and eventually died there. “U.S. Navy planes flew over Gardner Island on July 9, 1937,a week after Earhart’s disappearance, and saw no signs of Earhart, Noonan or the plane”. The other theory is that Amelia Earhart’s body was found in Nikumaroro. DNA testing
There are many reasons why this mystery remains unsolved, such as nobody knows how Amelia Earhart disappeared, where she was at, and where she died. This mystery is hard to solve, because nobody knows anything about her while she was in the plane. There are things still unanswered about Amelia Earhart such as, did she land on some Island and live there because she didn’t couldn’t fly back to America or did she land in the ocean and drown
